Exploring the FP-7 / AUDIO KEY

1. The AUDIO KEY feature is a simple way to control audio files for performance. [OM page 59]

a. Up to fourteen (14) audio (.wav) files may be stored on a USB memory device.

i. The ‘file’ might contain:

1. A COMPLETE song.

2. A phrase from a song.

3. A bass or drum loop.

4. Spoken phrases.

5. ANY audio file . . . use your imagination!

ii. Size of the files is only limited by the capacity of the USB memory device.

iii. Any number of files may be used, from 1 – 14, you do not have to assign a file to

every key.

b. Each file is assigned to a key at the lower end of the keyboard (B-flat 0 to B-1).

i. The files MAY be assigned to keys using just the FP-7. [OM page 127]

ii. It is much easier to create the assignments using the included AUDIO KEY

UTILITY. [The Audio Key Utility owner’s manual is within the HELP menu]

1. PC and MAC compatible.

2. More visual . . . just drag and drop the file on the desired keys.

iii. When you assign a file to a key, you may control whether that file begins to play:

1. Immediately when you touch the key, or if another file is already playing,

2. Whether it will WAIT for the currently playing file to end, and then start.

iv. You may also control whether the file plays:

1. just one time,

2. or whether the file plays in a continuous loop until you press another key

to choose another file (or STOP playback).
